This README will guide you on how to get started with ElDewrito, understand its unique LAN game launcher, and provide essential information on how to play and adjust settings. Installation There is no traditional installation process for Halo Online: ElDewrito. Simply copy the entire game folder onto your computer. Once copied, the game is ready to be played! About the Game Halo Online: ElDewrito is a community-driven project that revived and expanded upon the unreleased PC version of Halo 3, offering a dedicated multiplayer experience. It brings classic Halo gameplay to PC with enhanced features, custom maps, and a strong community focus. Classic Halo Gameplay: Experience the iconic movement, gunplay, and vehicle combat reminiscent of Halo 3. Diverse Maps: Battle across a variety of maps, including both original ElDewrito creations and fan-favorites from past Halo titles. Customization: Personalize your Spartan with armor permutations, weapon skins, and emblems. Dedicated Servers: Play on community-hosted dedicated servers for stable, low-latency multiplayer matches. Game Modes: Engage in a wide array of classic Halo game modes, including Slayer, Capture the Flag, Oddball, King of the Hill, and more. Modding Friendly: The ElDewrito client is highly customizable and supports community-created mods, adding new content and experiences. Connecting to LAN Games (Crucial Information) While ElDewrito has an in-game server browser, its Local Network (LAN) browser often struggles to reliably display dedicated servers. To ensure you can easily find and join local games, this package includes a custom tool: LANquery.py: This Python script is specifically designed to scan your local network for active ElDewrito game servers. When run, it will: List available LAN games. Allow you to select a game. Automatically launch ElDewrito and connect you directly to the chosen LAN server, bypassing the sometimes unreliable in-game browser. This makes joining local games much smoother and more consistent. Adjusting Settings To optimize your Halo Online: ElDewrito experience: Launch the Game: Start ElDewrito using StartGame.bat. In-Game Settings: Once the game is running, navigate to the "Settings" or "Options" menu. Video/Graphics Settings: Resolution: Set this to your monitor's native resolution for the sharpest image. Field of View (FOV): Adjust this to your preference. A wider FOV can provide better situational awareness. Texture Quality, Shadow Quality, Anti-Aliasing: Adjust these to balance visual fidelity with performance. Lowering them can improve frame rates. Display Mode: Choose between Fullscreen, Windowed, or Borderless Windowed. Audio Settings: Volume Controls: Adjust master volume, music volume, and sound effects volume. Starting the Game To launch Halo Online: ElDewrito after initial setup, the recommended way to start the game is by running StartGame.bat. StartGame.bat is configured to automatically launch the LANquery.py browser, making it easy to find and connect to local games. Optionally, LANquery.bat may also launch launcher.exe (the game's official patcher/launcher) if you wish. For convenient access, we strongly advise creating a shortcut to StartGame.bat on your desktop.
