This package includes Freedoom with Zandronum, a multiplayer-focused DOOM engine, plus Doomseeker for easy LAN/online connections. Jump into deathmatches, team battles, or cooperative missions with your friends. ------------------------------------------------ ABOUT THE GAME ------------------------------------------------ DOOM is a fast-paced first-person shooter where you fight against monsters and rival players across custom maps. - Deathmatch (DM): Free-for-all battles - Team Deathmatch (TDM): Work with your team to defeat the opposing team - Cooperative (COOP): Work together to complete custom maps and campaigns This LAN edition uses Freedoom, a free replacement for the original DOOM IWADs, and Zandronum for enhanced multiplayer support. ------------------------------------------------ HOW TO LAUNCH ------------------------------------------------ 1. Double-click **startgame.bat** to launch the DOOM Launcher Menu. 2. Choose one of the following options: [1] Play Local - Starts Zandronum in single-player or offline mode. - Use this to practice maps or play without a network connection. [2] Play Online / LAN - Launches **Doomseeker**, a server browser and launcher. - Doomseeker automatically finds LAN and online servers for Zandronum. - Easily join games, manage WAD/PWAD files, and view server information without manually entering IP addresses. [3] Start DM Dedicated Server - Starts a dedicated Deathmatch server. - The server hostname and web URL are automatically set to the computer's name. - Players on your LAN can now join this DM server via Doomseeker. [4] Start TDM Dedicated Server - Starts a dedicated Team Deathmatch server. - Use this for team-based LAN battles. [5] Start COOP Dedicated Server - Starts a cooperative map server. - Allows players to team up to complete maps together. ------------------------------------------------ FOLDER STRUCTURE ------------------------------------------------ - zandronum.exe -> Zandronum engine - freedm.wad -> Freedoom IWAD - startgame.bat -> Launcher menu - DOOM Server - DM.bat -> Dedicated DM server batch - DOOM Server - TDM.bat -> Dedicated TDM server batch - DOOM Server - COOP.bat-> Dedicated COOP server batch - Doomseeker -> Doomseeker client for server browsing and server management - logs -> Server logs directory ------------------------------------------------ TIPS ------------------------------------------------ - Ensure all PWADs or custom maps are in the same folder as the IWAD or referenced in the server batch. - Always run dedicated servers via the launcher to set hostnames dynamically. - Use Doomseeker to discover servers and join games without manually entering IPs. - Maximum players for each server are set in the batch files (usually 64).
