Demigod

Demigod - Play Guide

Welcome to the Arena of Demigods! This README will guide you on how to get started with Demigod and provide essential information on how to play, adjust settings, and troubleshoot common issues.

Installation
There's no traditional installation process for this version of Demigod. Simply copy the entire game folder onto your computer. Once copied, the game is ready to be played!

About the Game
Demigod is a unique action real-time strategy (RTS) game developed by Gas Powered Games, blending elements of a hero-centric RPG with traditional RTS mechanics. You take control of a powerful Demigod – a being of immense power – and battle other Demigods for supremacy and ultimate ascension.

Hero-Centric Gameplay: Unlike typical RTS games, you control a single, powerful Demigod hero who levels up, gains new abilities, and equips powerful artifacts throughout the match.
Two Demigod Archetypes:
Assassins: Agile and burst-damage focused, excelling at eliminating enemy Demigods and key targets.
Generals: Support their armies, buff units, and control the battlefield through strategic placement and summoning.
RTS Elements: While hero-focused, you still manage resources (Gold and Favors), build structures, capture control points (portals, flags), and deploy a supporting army of minions.
Diverse Arenas: Battle across various unique maps, each with different layouts, objectives, and environmental features.
Strategic Objectives: Victory often comes from capturing and holding key points, upgrading your strongholds, and strategically deploying your minions to overwhelm the enemy Demigod and their defenses.
Team-Based Combat: Engage in intense team battles, coordinating your Demigod's abilities and army movements with your allies to secure victory.
Troubleshooting Common Issues
If you encounter missing DLL errors when trying to launch Demigod, it usually means your system is missing necessary runtime components. Follow these steps to resolve them:

Install Redistributables: Go into the _Redist folder within the main Demigod game directory.
Run All Installers: Install all six programs found in this folder. These typically include DirectX, Visual C++ Redistributables, and other essential libraries the game needs.
Still Getting Errors? Delete Game.prefs: If errors persist even after installing the redistributables, you might have a corrupted configuration file. Delete the following file: DocumentsMy GamesGas Powered GamesDemigodGame.prefs This file will be recreated with default settings when you launch the game again.

Adjusting Settings
To optimize your Demigod experience:

Launch the Game: Start Demigod using StartGame.bat.
Options Menu: From the main menu, navigate to the "Options" or "Settings" menu.
Video/Display Settings:
Resolution: Set this to your monitor's native resolution for the sharpest image.
Graphics Quality: Adjust settings like "Texture Quality," "Shader Quality," "Shadows," and "Effects Detail." Balance these to achieve a smooth frame rate, especially during large-scale battles.
Anti-Aliasing / V-Sync: Toggle these for visual smoothness and to prevent screen tearing, respectively.
Audio Settings:
Volume Controls: Adjust master volume, music volume, and sound effects volume.
Control Settings:
Mouse Sensitivity: Adjust for comfortable camera movement and unit selection.
Key Bindings: Customize your keyboard shortcuts for Demigod abilities, item usage, and issuing commands to your minions.
Gameplay Settings:
Adjust mini-map size, UI elements, and other personal preferences.
Experiment with these settings to find what works best for your system and playstyle.

Starting the Game
To launch Demigod after initial setup, the recommended way to start the game is by running StartGame.bat. You'll find this file in the main game directory.

For convenient access, we strongly advise creating a shortcut to StartGame.bat on your desktop.
