Call Of Duty World At War Co-op

Call of Duty: World at War - Installation and Play Guide

Welcome, Soldier, to the brutal battlefields of World War II! This README will guide you through the installation process for Call of Duty: World at War, provide essential information on how to play, and help you adjust settings.

Installation Guide
The installation process for this version of Call of Duty: World at War is streamlined for your convenience:

Run the Main Installer (Install CoD WaW.Bat):
Locate the batch file named Install CoD WaW.Bat in your game directory.
Right-click on Install CoD WaW.Bat and select "Run as administrator." This is crucial for the installation to complete successfully and for the game to function properly.
Random Key Code Generation: During this installation process, the batch file will generate and display a random key code. This key code is necessary for the game's initial setup. Make sure to write it down or copy it somewhere safe when it appears on the screen. You will need it later.
The installer will then proceed to install the base game, apply necessary patches to bring it up to date, and copy supplemental no-CD files to ensure the game runs without requiring a physical disc.
Follow any on-screen prompts to complete the installation.

About the Game
Call of Duty: World at War thrusts players into the gritty and brutal final battles of World War II, focusing on the Pacific and Eastern Fronts. It delivers a visceral and unflinching portrayal of conflict, alongside the groundbreaking introduction of the Nazi Zombies mode.

Intense Single-Player Campaign: Experience harrowing battles as a U.S. Marine in the Pacific theater or as a Soviet Red Army soldier on the Eastern Front, fighting against a relentless and unforgiving enemy.
Brutal Combat: Features realistic weapon handling, visceral damage models, and dynamic environments.
Robust Multiplayer: Engage in competitive online matches with a familiar progression system, customizable loadouts, and killstreak rewards.
Nazi Zombies: The iconic cooperative mode where you and up to three other players defend against endless waves of Nazi zombies, earning points to buy weapons and unlock new areas. This mode became a phenomenon!
Co-op Campaign: Play the entire single-player campaign with up to three friends, offering a unique cooperative tactical experience.
Important Note on Online Accounts / Offline Play
When you launch Call of Duty: World at War for the first time, the game might prompt you to create an online profile or account.

You can safely cancel or skip this step.
The provided StartGame.bat and StartGame - mp.bat are configured to create a local/offline version of the game profile for you.
This offline profile will allow you to play the single-player campaign, Nazi Zombies, and join Co-Op or Multiplayer LAN servers without needing an internet connection or an online account.
Optional Content: Zombie Custom Maps
For fans of the Nazi Zombies mode, this distribution may include a folder with custom maps created by the community.

Look for a folder named Optional - Zombie Custom Maps (or similar) within your main game directory.
Inside, you will often find instructions on how to install and play these custom maps, which can offer countless hours of new content and challenges for the Zombies experience.

Adjusting Settings
To optimize your Call of Duty: World at War experience:

Launch the Game: Start World at War using either StartGame.bat or StartGame - mp.bat.
Options Menu: From the main menu, navigate to the "Options" or "Settings" menu (or "Multiplayer Options" if you're in the multiplayer menu).
Graphics Options:
Resolution: Set this to your monitor's native resolution for the sharpest image.
Aspect Ratio: Ensure this is set correctly (e.g., "Automatic" or "Widescreen 16:9") to avoid a stretched image.
Texture Quality, Shadow Quality, Anti-Aliasing, Anisotropic Filtering: Adjust these to balance visual fidelity with your system's performance. Lowering them can significantly improve frame rates, especially during intense action.
V-Sync: Toggle this on or off to prevent screen tearing; turn it off for competitive play if you have a high refresh rate monitor.
Audio Options:
Volume Controls: Adjust master volume, music volume, and sound effects volume. Positional audio is critical for hearing enemy footsteps and gunfire.
Control Options:
Mouse Sensitivity: This is paramount for precise aiming in an FPS. Experiment extensively to find your comfortable setting.
Invert Mouse: Toggle if you prefer inverted Y-axis controls.
Key Bindings: Customize your keyboard and mouse controls for movement, weapon actions, grenades, and melee. Efficient hotkey usage is vital.
Multiplayer Options (if applicable):
Player Name: Set your desired in-game name.
Allow Console: Enable this if you want to access the in-game console (usually by pressing the ~ or ` key) for advanced commands or server connection.
Experiment with these settings to find what works best for your system and playstyle.

Starting the Game After Installation
After the entire installation process is complete, you have two recommended ways to start the game, depending on your preferred experience:

For Solo Campaign or Co-Op Play:
Run StartGame.bat. This will launch the game primarily for the single-player campaign, Nazi Zombies, and cooperative modes.
For Multiplayer Server Browser:
Run StartGame - mp.bat. This will launch the game directly into its multiplayer component, allowing you to access the server browser and join LAN matches.
You'll find both of these batch files in the main game directory. For convenient access, we strongly advise creating shortcuts to both StartGame.bat and StartGame - mp.bat on your desktop.
