This README will guide you on how to get started with Diablo II, how to connect to local Battlenet servers, and provide essential information on how to play and adjust settings. Installation There's no traditional installation process for this version of Diablo II. Simply copy the entire game folder onto your computer. Once copied, the game is ready to be played! About the Game Diablo II is an iconic action RPG that redefined the genre with its dark gothic atmosphere, addictive loot system, diverse character classes, and endless replayability. Battle against the forces of Hell as you journey through a demon-infested world. Dark Fantasy Action RPG: Dive into a grim narrative as you chase the Prime Evils across a corrupted world. Five Unique Classes: Choose from the Amazon, Necromancer, Barbarian, Sorceress, or Paladin, each with distinct skills and playstyles. (Expansions add Assassin and Druid). Addictive Loot System: Discover countless randomized items with unique properties, constantly striving for better gear to customize your character. Deep Skill Trees: Invest skill points as you level up, building powerful synergies and specializing your hero. Local Battlenet Support: This version is configured to allow easy connection to local PVPgn servers, letting you play with friends on your local network as if you were on the official Battlenet. Before you can play on the local Battlenet service PVPgn, you need to create an account. Our server uses the Automated LAN Party website for account management. Go to the website: Visit the Automated LAN Party website. Register: Click on the "Register" link at the top to create your new account. Remember your username and password, as you'll need them to log in to the game. Launching the Game & Local Battlenet This version of Diablo II has a specialized launch script to enhance your experience: Run StartGame.bat: Locate and run StartGame.bat in your main game directory. PVPgn Server Integration: When you launch via StartGame.bat, the script will automatically: Search for and add any locally running PVPgn servers to your game's registry. This means you won't need to manually configure local Battlenet connections; they should simply appear as available gateways within the game. Display Mode Prompt: After integrating local servers, the script will then prompt you with two options: Option 1: Launch in Windowed Mode: Choose this if you prefer to play Diablo II in a resizable window, which is often more convenient for modern multitasking. Option 2: Launch in Fullscreen Mode: Choose this for a traditional, immersive gaming experience. Make Your Choice: Type 1 or 2 and press Enter to launch the game in your preferred display mode.
