Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (CoD4x Edition) - Installation and Play Guide

Welcome, Recruit, to the modern battlefield! This README will guide you through the installation process for Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, including necessary patches and the CoD4x client, and provide essential information on how to play and adjust settings.

Installation Guide
The installation process for this version of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare involves a few crucial steps to get you up and running with the CoD4x client.

Run the Main Installer (Install CoD4.bat):

Locate the batch file named Install CoD4.bat in your game directory.
Right-click on Install CoD4.bat and select "Run as administrator." This is vital for the installation to complete successfully and for the game to function properly.
Random Key Code Generation: During this installation process, the batch file will generate and display a random key code. This key code is necessary for the game's initial setup and multiplayer. Make sure to write it down or copy it somewhere safe when it appears on the screen. You will need it later.
Follow any on-screen prompts to complete the base game installation.
Install Game Patches (v1.6 and v1.7):

After the base game is installed, you MUST install the official patches to update your game to version 1.7, which is required for CoD4x and most online servers.
Look for patch files named something like CoD4MW-1.6-Patch.exe and CoD4MW-1.7-Patch.exe (or similar).
Run each patch executable sequentially (1.6 first, then 1.7) as an administrator. Follow their on-screen instructions.
Install CoD4x Client:

The CoD4x client significantly enhances the game, particularly for multiplayer.
Locate the CoD4x folder within your main game directory (it should be alongside iw3mp.exe and iw3sp.exe).
Inside the CoD4x folder, you will find an installer batch file, typically named install.cmd or CoD4x_Installer.bat.
Right-click on this batch file and select "Run as administrator."
Follow any prompts from the CoD4x installer. It will integrate the CoD4x client files into your game.
